01.02.2021 – 08:00
BOSTON, March 23 / PRNewswire /
Koura, a global leader in the development, manufacture and supply of fluorine products, today launched the first of its next generation, low GWP refrigerant, Klea® 473A, after being classified as A1 by the ASHRAE SSPC34 committee -Refrigerant suggested.
Koura Klea® 473A is designed to provide high performance with significantly lower global warming potential (GWP) than existing refrigerants in ultra-low temperature refrigeration applications such as: B. in high-quality cold chains, in the storage of vaccines, in climatic test chambers, in transport and in other medical applications.
Today, manufacturers and users of cryogenic cooling systems are forced to choose between acceptable cooling performance and the environmental impact of these systems. Existing non-flammable refrigerants used in ultra-low temperature systems typically have a high global warming potential (GWP). Koura KLEA® 473A breaks that compromise with a capacity and energy efficiency better than that of R23 and a GWP of 1,830, an 85% reduction compared to R23 (GWP 14,800) or R-508 (13,396 GWP).
Klea® 473A is a breakthrough solution to the ever increasing demand for ultra-low temperature refrigerants in various industries. Koura is currently in discussion with relevant stakeholders for a number of applications, including deep-sea shipping and biomedical storage. This includes a potential use in vaccine storage to aid in the fight against Covid-19.
Koura invests in significant innovations in the area of Koura Klea® refrigerant products. The market launch of Klea® 473A marks the beginning of the commercialization of sustainable, energy-efficient and low GWP refrigerant solutions, with further products to follow.
Dave Smith, Downstream Business Director at Koura, said, "The introduction of Klea® 473A is an exciting milestone in our next generation refrigerant program, which aims to bring a new portfolio of sustainable, energy-efficient, low GWP refrigerant solutions to a wide range of heating, Develop refrigeration and refrigeration applications.
