It's been 22 years since one of the most influential racing games ever made in the world was released. Gran Turismo was released in December 1997 with great success and enthusiastic fans who continue to enjoy the game long after it was released.

Since then, Gran Turismo has been an integral part of the racing simulation industry and more than just a video game. The Gran Turismo Academy, with the help of Nissan, creates racers from ordinary gamers who were particularly good. Gran Turismo was a miracle of its time and is still fun to this day. With over 140 cars and 11 racetracks, there was no shortage of incredible cars.

Gran Turismo has really broken new ground by introducing some of the most amazing cars in the world that not only serve as a simulation game but also as a kind of virtual showroom for some of the world's most exotic cars.

Gran Turismo 2 is often considered one of the best in the series, with over 600 cars and 27 tracks. It's also the only game in the series that's split over two discs: One strange fact about the Gran Turismo 2 disc is that it's one of the few games that has a scratch and sniff disc that is on mine Copy doesn't work but I have the greatest hits version so I'm assuming this was only on the original release - that or mine was worn out.

I'm not going to go through every sequel to Gran Turismo as this intro would most likely be longer than the entire article. They all have their own brilliance and some flaws, just like any other game. I'm going to talk about some of these shortcomings that we as a fan base may not have noticed at first.

There are some cars in the first four installments of Gran Turismo that you cannot legitimately get to in the game. The flaw lies in the fact that even though the cars are fully modeled and have their own title cards and stats, you can get to them by hacking them and can be used on any track without crashing the game.

Those cars that should be removed from the game due to cuts or licensing issues, like the Lamborghini Diablo GT1, remain hidden in the game files.

The regional differences between the publications have resulted in differences in the labeling and types of cars available in that region. Given the number of Supra racing cars in the game, this seems like an oversight. Gran Turismo 2 is the only game with the base Lister model while the race-ready Lister continued to run. Every other race car in the games has a production variant, but the Lister Storm race car goes on without one.

This is a minor oversight that was undoubtedly part of the cut from Gran Turismo 2 with over 600 cars to Gran Turismo 3 A-Spec with just 187 cars.

The biggest difference, besides the slight change in the lettering on the corners of the bonnet, was the PlayStation badge, which was placed in the middle of the bonnet for releases in Europe and Japan. During the Endurance Challenge races, there is a chance that a car that is not normally in that race could show up as a competitor.

This little bug is an oversight when the GT500HR somehow moved to the bottom of the opponent's list and the game picked the last car from the list above. This bug can only be seen in the first version of the game and has been fixed in every version since then. This is just a minor bug, but you don't really see it today as the games get bigger and with updates keep fixing everything, it's unlikely we'll ever see such a bug again.

When using hacks to spawn the title card, a Toyota Altezza is used as a replacement for the missing car. The bug actually occurs while showing the license credits screen, which is where the Rex is mentioned among the many other cars featured in the game.

I'm not sure why this Subaru wasn't in the game when they licensed it, but it is what it is and that is the only memory of any other car that could have been. This is just another minor flaw in the game that really doesn't affect anything, and it's completely understandable given the mass amount of different variations of the Nissan Skylines in the game, including the GTS-T and the GT-R. It's easy to confuse them all, but the V-Spec is one of the most sought-after in the game for its race-inspired tuning.

Some of these models can actually be found in Gran Turismo 4, despite not being accessible through legitimate means. There are only two motorcycles that look normal when spawned, but instead have the wheels of a car with the bike floating between them. I couldn't find a picture for it, but it looks really weird and is a reminder to everyone that Polyphony is another great driving simulator game for those who are not necessarily just into cars. The reason you have to work around to get the special paint job is because of a licensing issue with Valvoline where fans have to jump through the hoops to get a Bonafide NASCAR racer.

A drag race feature was cut off very late in the game, so the track may not be there. However, there are three cars that can be converted into drag racing cars. Because of this late removal, you can only get 98. On the other hand, however, you can get up to 100. In the original version in all countries the economy was different to simulate the type of money that countries are safe to use.

Since Japan's yen is so different from the US dollar, they made that difference clear by dividing prices by 100. The problem is that they changed almost everything and just forgot the in-game car wash, which was $ 5,000 instead of 50 Cr - that was half the money you started with in the game!

This error could just be misinformation. How they got this information in the first place, however, really puzzles me, since the Internet had now been invented and the New York Bridge had undoubtedly been written at least a little bit about it. In the later versions of the game, the logo was changed to reflect this change. Most of the car models used in the Gran Turismo franchise are based on a scale model. You usually can't see the bottom of these cars because there's nowhere for the car to go without the tires touching the ground. When you see the bottom it is usually low resolution and nothing of interest.

However, on the 2000 Nissan Skyline GT-R R34, this is a little more than interesting as someone added the underside of one of their scale models and a logo of the company the models were made from. This could be intentional, possibly as a nod to the manufacturers of the models who have been using them for years. For the US release of Gran Turismo 2, the box art contained a series of ads with a blurry dark background. It makes sense to have the fastest car in the world that was used for your cover at the time, but the legendary car is nowhere in GT2 and wouldn't be in a Gran Turismo game until Gran Turismo 5.

A tragedy in the Gran Turismo community came with the realization that the GT Vision cars will be incomplete. With names like Nike not having the opportunity to create a car that follows the weird Nike 2022 in Gran Turismo 4, the cars themselves are only meant to be designed and featured in Gran Turismo Sport, since Gran Turismo 6 is now a game on It no future updates are planned.

Part of us would like to see the new cars when they are designed, but another part would like our list to be filled out in Gran Turismo 6.

This could be because the modified 3000GT may not have a title card and therefore revert to the original. However, this bug was corrected in later versions of the game.

This was of course only in the first version and has since been corrected in subsequent versions. There appears to be a bug in the Home Garage menu in Arcade showing the Euro Viper in the background. The fault is not the car but the number of the car, as you can clearly see it has the number 53. But the Oreca Vipers in the game were numbers 51 and 91. That doesn't mean the number 53 didn't exist. Since it was driven by Anthony Beltoise and Ni Amorim and finished 29th in LeMans' 24 hour race in 2000, it just never appeared in the game.
