Bollywood legend Rishi Kapoor dies of cancer

Rishi Kapoor, one of the most successful and popular Indian actors, is dead. The industry journal "Variety" reports, citing Indian media. Kapoor was admitted to a hospital in Mumbai on Wednesday. His brother then announced that Kapoor had breathing problems and was suffering from cancer. The actor finally passed away on Thursday morning at the age of 67.

Rishi Kapoor comes from an Indian dynasty of actors and was in front of the camera in a film made by his father Raj Kapoor as a child. In the years that followed, Kapoor played primarily romantic roles, for example in 1973 in "Bobby" - again directed by his father and one of the most successful Indian films ever. With "Bobby" Kapoor became a superstar, he played the romantic hero for many years until he also tried more complex roles in the 90s. Rishi Kapoor leaves behind his wife Neetu and son Ranbir, both of whom are also big Bollywood stars, as well as his daughter Riddhima.
