Are all inclusive resorts overrated

Traveled as friends in October 2012 for 1 week

All inclusive is completely overrated

The size of the room was absolutely ok. It's just time the rooms were renovated. It's a shame that we couldn't live together as a group. They managed to accommodate 5 people so that each side of the island was inhabited. We booked half board and 2 of us upgraded to all inclusive. Huge mistake !!! all-inclusive only applies to certain times and only for certain services (cappuccino is not part of the all-in - because it is made in the machine, coffee with milk is brewed - that is all-in - all-in does not apply before 10 a.m. Etc.)

super beautifully located small island. Malé 45 minutes away by boat.

Sufficient size. Equipment very much in need of renovation - especially if you have seen the deluxe rooms - standard becomes a no-go! Air conditioning very loud - a shame at night as I would have preferred to hear the surf. No water pressure in the old shower. The shower curtain was totally filthy. Sink could not be closed (for the little clothes in between), toilet seat totally worn out

The cleaning of the rooms was excellent. The responsible staff very friendly. The reception staff could learn a few things from that.

The kitchen was great. There was really something for EVERY taste. If the food wasn't great, this island would fare even worse for me. The staff friendly and hard-working.

Price / performance ratio does not work at all! For me, all inclusive means that everything is inclusive. No restriction on times or services (see the topic of cappuccino above). I love cocktails, but unfortunately they weren't included in the all-in. I think the all-in "offer" is a rip-off. I also told the reception staff - no reaction.

I had been looking forward to the Maldives for so long - but unfortunately Eriyadu spoiled my enjoyment. For me it means: once in the Maldives - never again.
